Well, I finished Chapter 2 of BRS Pathology (Board Review Series) and got 7 correct out of the 9 review questions. This chapter was heavy and slow. But, I already know everything about inflammation. Nonetheless, some new material has been added to BRS Pathology (Board Review Series) in this chapter as far as the latest edition is concerned. This seems like a very good book to review from and the organization and presentation of the 3rd edition is MUCH better than the previous editions that I have seen. I do understand why this book gets an A- review from First Aid for the USMLE Step 1: 2007 (FIRST AID FOR THE USMLE- STEP 1 ONLY) as a review source for Pathology.
I’ve also started a new thing from today. I’ve decided to do 5 pages per day of the review material in First Aid for the USMLE Step 1: 2007 (FIRST AID FOR THE USMLE- STEP 1 ONLY). I figure, with consistent effort, I should be able to grasp some valuable input from the MUST have book in my preparations by the time I get to writing the USMLE’s, God willing. So, set 1 of my 5 pages from First Aid for the USMLE Step 1: 2007 (FIRST AID FOR THE USMLE- STEP 1 ONLY) has been done.
I also came across this link which I recommend everyone take the moment to look at, or even better, print out and look at it(learn from the failures of others):
Basically, the guy gives your something to think about. And it has certainly helped to motivate me for today! And, I’ve decided, at the least, I’m gonna’ finish at least one chapter of some text or another per day. If I get more than one chapter completed in a day, then I’ve done more than my basic goal. I wanna’ just keep a simple goal; One chapter per day. Nothing more than that. And, if I can do more, then it’s a better than expected day. But, by at least keeping a minimum goal, it should help me from getting stagnant and not moving anywhere, God willing. I hope this motivates some of y’all. I hope this approach works for me, too. We’ll only know once I get my results.
Oh, and I was checking out the resources for registering for the USMLE’s. I came across this for Foreign Medical Graduates(Registration with the ECFMG):
Fill out the form NOW! It takes the ECFMG board upto 7 days to get back to you with a ‘magic’ number, without which you can’t even think about registering for the USMLE’s… As I discover additional requirements and errata for this USMLE Step 1 process, I’ll share ‘em with y’all, God willing.
